Astronaut Neil Armstrong, first person to walk on the moon, died

“I think we’re going to the moon because it’s in the nature of the human being to face challenges.  It’s by the nature of his deep inner soul…we’re required to do these things just as salmon swim upstream.”  Neil Armstrong (August 5, 1930 – August 25, 2012)

Neil Armstrong is not just a famous person.  He is someone who made history.  He inspired people like myself.  When I was a young girl I became interested in physics and science because of him.  I joined a rocket club in school, building rockets and then launching them.  Good memories, and all inspired by this great man.   It was so very sad to hear the news, and it brought tears to my eyes.

“For those who may ask what they can do to honor Neil, we have a simple request. Honor his example of service, accomplishment and modesty, and the next time you walk outside on a clear night and see the moon smiling down at you, think of Neil Armstrong and give him a wink.”

Paul Feyerabend: How to Defend Society Against Science

Paul Feyerabend is one of my favorite philosophers.

And here is a link to one of his papers, “How to Defend Society Against Science”, which originally appeared in Radical Philosophy, [1975] no. 11.
